The goal of this project was to create an engaging, usable outdoor living space for the homeowner. We worked in conjunction with designer Darcy Daniels of Bloomtown Gardens to design a space that invited use, as the previous back yard was overgrown with medium size trees, neglected shrubs and inter mixed ground covers and perennials that had seen better days.
After gutting the entire backyard, we started with a generously wide paver pathway that leads from the house to a patio, which is set on a 45 degree angle that creates interest while making the space seem bigger than it is. The crown jewel is a custom built, intimate pavilion cover that is designed to create a protected outdoor space which allows for spring thru fall usage. The cover houses a fire pit and outdoor furniture, and is surrounded by shade tolerant plantings including mondo grass and New Zealand Flax, all connected by a custom flagstone path.
